5 Things Women Think We Don't Know About Dating

The other day I was lamenting over the current and utterly confusing state of inter-gender communications with my super-awesome friend Kallie . You see, Kallie has a superior understanding (or at least a strong opinion) of how the whole ‘man meets woman, man takes woman out, man buys expensive ring and puts on woman’s finger’ process is supposed to work.

It might have been a moment of indiscretion or simple pity, but for the first time in my life a woman broke the universal female commandment, Thall shall not divulge what we actually want to the lower gender (you know the one they teach the girls in 5th grade when they send us guys to the Gym to watch a stupid video on wearing deodorant and not freaking out when new patches of hair start sprouting). Little did I know Home Girl was about to drop some serious knowledge on me.

It turned out to be a behind-the-scenes view every guy should be fortunate enough to read and every woman articulate enough to share. Thanks to the handy dandy auto-record feature of g-chat, I can share the exact lesson with you.

5 Things Women Think We Don’t Know About Dating

    Kallie:
    1) Be clear from the beginning what your intentions are and if you’re not sure say that, or say nothing

    Me:
    check

    Kallie:
    2) All girls feel like they are too much to handle, too much emotion, just too much sometimes and need to be told/shown that they aren’t

    Me:
    How do you do that?

    Kallie:
    hmm, good question
when they are overwhelming, don’t freak
be a man and take control … sometimes

    me:
    Be even kealed?

    Kallie:
    Yes
and the day after the freak out, call, come around, be there so she doesn’t think, holy crap what have I done, he’s totally not going to want to be with me now

    Me:
    check

    Kallie
    3) All girls want to feel and be told they are beautiful and worth fighting for.

    me:
    check

    Kallie:
    4) let your words and actions match

    Any questions?

    Me:
    None
    Check

    Kallie
    5) Make friends with her friends and family, they can be your greatest allies or worst enemies.

    me:
    good point
    check

    Kallie:
Bonus) Recognize that talking builds intimacy and intimacy fuels relationships. be careful because for women talking till five in the morning can be more romantic than making out.

    listen to her, ask questions
if she’s quiet, don’t just fill the silence
because you may say something totally stupid
you want to be on the same track as her, not just assuming you know what’s going on in her head and what the silence means
    you don’t , you’re a guy

    me:
    true dat
so if a girl is silent, there’s a chance she’s not bored out of her mind?

    Kallie:
    very much so

    me:
(I get nervous when there’s silence)

    Kallie:
    we all do
But really it was during my silence that guys started saying the dumbest things and it’s often that way. Sometimes she might just be thinking

    Me:
    damn
    that’s tough
    but …
    check
(guys tend to like making out till 5am, for the record)

    Kallie:
I mean, Girls like making out too.
Most girls could make out with a guy they’re not that into while the idea of talking to him till dawn isn’t that appealing

On the other hand, making out w/ little talking breaks till dawn … and it’s the right guy … :-)
