Standing Accountable To History or Political TMI?
I realize that for a lot of people the right to anonymity during the election process is something they can’t imagine not exercising. Personally, not so important, but I believe in that right to the point that I would physically fight for it. That being said it is a right not a mandate and sometimes revealing a little more about yourself than you have to can be cathartic (or a complete and utter disaster). With the election literally hours away I thought it was time to ‘wave that right’ and try to be a little transparent for who and why I’m voting.
My voter registration (copy and pasted from the state of PA’s website) :
DAVID SPEERS (Date of Birth: 11/24/1981) is registered to vote in CHESTER County
Status : ACTIVE
Party : REPUBLICAN
Polling Place Address for E BRANDYWINE S
E BRANDYWINE FIRE HALL
2096 BONDSVILLE RD
What is not in the PA database and should never be; Who I’m actually voting for:
Drum roll please … Obama - Biden
Why?
I would have to write a book that tipped the scales against a Dickens novel to do that question justice, but in the age of endemic ADD I’ll just do the next best thing: link to an opinion that’s closest to mine. I don’t really know why I’m sharing all this. Maybe it’s a classic case of TMI but I’m starting to think it’s actually an oppurtunity to go on the record and be held accountable for a decision that will probably effect everyone in the world from this point on. For better or worse let history know where I stand.
Is anyone else relieved this only happens every four years? ;-)
